053112 - AM GETTING READY TO POST MORE PHOTOS

Posted by Vincente E. Woodward on Thursday, May 31, 2012,
After posting yesterday I went out to the beach for the afternoon and evening.

You know how these things go.

I went just for a little while, or to sunset at latest.

But then, that other wondrous world of the illuminated sky with
full-on half moon directly following the sunset must show itself and I just simply lose all control as I am quickly seduced by this most beautiful of objects.

It is almost like I go into a hypnotic "moon trance".

I was warned many years ago not to watch the water for long ...

053012 JUST WOKE UP = as I was saying?

Posted by Vincente E. Woodward on Wednesday, May 30, 2012,
It's Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m.

I know that it is just SOOOOO rude to fall asleep in the middle of an intense conversation about very important matters with worldwide, and yeah, even universal principles at stake, but that's what I just did.

I said in the last post that I would try to be back in a few hours.

Well, let's see just how well that went.

Well, hmmmm, let's see, where does one start with such a stark confession, anyway?

Remember, now, I literally just woke up.

I don't know where anyt...

5-29-12 NOT MUCH TO SAY RIGHT NOW?

Posted by Vincente E. Woodward on Tuesday, May 29, 2012,
Well, I got back from up north a couple of days ago and have been working around the clock at one final all out full scale assault on the mess which I call an office.

I am actually looking at a carpeted floor, as I sit here and type this.

I often marvel when I see the floor, because I often wonder whether it is still down there below all of the stuff which I have unceremoniousy thrown upon it.

My work method reminds me of paramedic calls.

We rip open fluids, and lines, and containers, and needles...

5-21-12 ONE MORE CHANT POSTED

Posted by Vincente E. Woodward on Tuesday, May 22, 2012,
As usual, it would seem, lately, I only have a few minutes to write.

Have to come in off of the wall tomorrow, because I must get ready to travel on Wednesday morning.

After almost 30 days of continuous waves, my mind feels much better than it has in a long time.

Add to that a little bit of chant at sunrise, and one can almost have some vestige of hope, where, otherwise, there would be none.

And, don 't forget the incredible starlit nights.

And, what about that incredible solar eclipse yesterday

5-19-12 THREE MORE CHANTS POSTED

Posted by Vincente E. Woodward on Sunday, May 20, 2012,
I am staying on the wall for another several days.

Have to go up to Northern California on Wednesday.

Will return shortly thereafter, if all goes according to "plan".

Have been recording these very beautiful chants.

Have been up a little before dawn each morning and have listened to them as they are meant to be listened to, with the ocean waves crashing all around in front of you as the first glimmers of light hit the beach and as the first animals (always the Sandpipers) begin to move about just...

5-17-12 BACK UP ON THE SEAWALL - SEVEN GREGORIAN CHANTS POSTED

Posted by Vincente E. Woodward on Thursday, May 17, 2012,
Finished week up by Faria.

It went unbelievably fast.

So, it was a matter of whether to come in out of the cold, or see if I could get another week on the seawall.

Won't know for sure until tomorrow at 9 a.m.

All has been relatively quiet on the coast.

Not really a lot to talk about during the past several days.

A few more whales, many more dolphins, and pelicans and other birds for days.

One huge flock was floating all night right off shore from the wall.

You always wonder whether the birds can bed ...

5-10-12 NEW LOCATION - ORCAS AND WHALES, oh my!

Posted by Vincente E. Woodward on Friday, May 11, 2012,

As you can see from the photos on the Rincon Highway May 2012 page (new), I have come under a sustained attack by whales and Orcas.

I had to fight my way out this morning in order to get down here to write this and to post the photos.

I do not think it is safe to swim at this beach just at this moment.

I am wondering how long it will be before JAWS joins the fracas.

Seriously, though, a huge pod of dolphins swimming merrily around with at least one Orca and whale, and several others which did not...

5-9-12 LAST DAY ON THIS WALL

Posted by Vincente E. Woodward on Wednesday, May 9, 2012,
Well, after spending two weeks on the seawall watching the tide come in and go out, it is time to move on to my next location.

First, I must clean tanks, and clean all of the salt off of the side which was exposed to the waves last night.

The sea knew that I was getting ready to leave, so it decided to give me my very own, very private, and very spectacular show.

It culminated with a wave coming in the window of the RV, which is about 18 feet above the actual water.

Boy, that got my attention.

A n...

5-7-12 UPDATE?

Posted by Vincente E. Woodward on Monday, May 7, 2012,
I am in from the coast for a few hours doing work at my terrestrial office.

So, while sitting here listening to music for a few minutes before getting down to the business at hand, I thought I would write a few quick words, without anything in particular to say.

Oh?  How is that any different from usual? you say.

To which I respond that you are a #%$^$&@^# and maybe should just stop having the benefit of my huge storehouse of wisdom accumulated during numerous ages.

Now, that would serve you righ...

5-6-12 AUDIO IS ON!!

Posted by Vincente E. Woodward on Sunday, May 6, 2012,
Once again, I am by a node for a few minutes and will, accordingly, take advantage.

Taking up where I left off, the audio set-up which I utilized worked flawlessly.

That is, except for one minor glitch.

It seems that there are buttons on the front of the Mbox (generation 3) which turn on and off the front jacks.

Nice to know when you are wondering why there is no sound.

So, at 7:30 p.m., as the Sun was just above the horizon and setting, the first noises came out of the speakers.

Later in the eveni...

050512 HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO?

Posted by Vincente E. Woodward on Saturday, May 5, 2012,
Am in town for just a few minutes.

I was laughing to myself just a little bit ago as I thought about how I told several days ago that setting up the audio and MIDI sounds much easier than it is to do.

Well, here we are, how ever many days later.

It is Saturday, and I just got back from the Guitar Center professional audio department in Oxnard.

As of last night I got everybody up and running together, such that I finally got a good solid MIDI signal and recording of same.

But ----   uuuuhhhhh?  Whe...

5-4-12 MASCAGNI INTERMEZZO

Posted by Vincente E. Woodward on Friday, May 4, 2012,
Just a quick follow-up note, while I am by an internet node.

I have spent the past several months looking for a piece of sheet music which I could not remember the title of or composer of.

I went through hundreds and hundreds of pieces on my shelves, only to not find it, to my utter amazement.

Finally it is time to get serious.

So, I go one piece at a time methodically and systematically, once again, and again.

Finally, there is another copy of the piece which I had forgotten that I have.

Enough to...

5-3-12 A WHALE OF A TALE

Posted by Vincente E. Woodward on Friday, May 4, 2012,
I tried to post several hours ago, but the computer hung up and I had to go immediately.  Sorry about that.

Anyway, it is now a little after 10 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2012.

I am by the computer for just a few minutes, on my way back out to beach office.

It was a truly amazing day.

After one week of almost nothing, except migrating birds, all of a sudden we get visited by one large pod of dolphins after another all day long.

Some of the dolphins were very large and impressive to look at.

They were...

043012 - WHILE I AM IN CIVILIZATION, BUT ONLY FOR ONE MOMENT, AND NO MORE!

Posted by Vincente E. Woodward on Tuesday, May 1, 2012,

I am currently at central command post and have just a few minutes during which I can write.

Went up to northern Califronia last several days.

Got back last night.

i have been trying out something which Yamaha had dubbed "the silent violin".

I saw one in the window at Musik Hug's store which is next to the Grossmunster (which, just for the record, means the Great Minster, as in a place where people live;  across the bridge is the Fraumunster, which is the Women's MInster;  see if you can figure t...
